A reunion a generation in the making turned out quite a crowd from July 15-16.

The first ever Leaf Lakes reunion was held during the Henning Festival weekend.

According to Jeff Bondy, who helped to organize the event, approximately 30 people attended Friday’s reunion at the Woodshed Bar and Grill in Ottertail. Approximately 40 people attended a second Leaf Lakes reunion on Saturday night at Oakwood Supper Club.

Jeff Bondy, who along with Jim Dilly helped to organize the reunion, said there was a lot of time for conversations, eating and reminiscing about the days of the Leaf Lakes area. The reunion was kept open to anyone who identified themselves as being from, or spent time in the Leaf Lakes area as a child.

Bondy said a lot of credit goes out to Lori Ross and Eileen Bachmann who helped to plan the reunion and took some memorable pictures throughout the event He said Bachmann even put together a large photo spread of the Leaf Lakes area over the years.

In addition to local residents, a few people came from as far away as Wyoming and Texas to attend the reunion. Following the success of this year’s reunion, Bondy said there may be another Leaf Lakes reunion held in the future.

Dozens of people attended a pair of Leaf Lakes reunions at Woodshed Bar and Grill in Ottertail on Friday (above) and Oakwood Supper Club in Henning on Saturday (below).
