OTC to host state tournament from July 21

The Otter Tail Central Babe Ruth took Wednesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. The game was tied at 4-4 with OTC batting in the bottom of the seventh inning when Hoyt singled on a 1-0 count, scoring Trinity Baker.

In the top of the fifth inning, DGF tied things up at 3-3 when Huovinen singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Dawson Bushman earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound in relief of Max Grove, the starter, for OTC. Bushman surrendered three runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven. Opsdahl took the loss for DGF. Opsdahl surrendered two runs on four hits over 1 2/3 innings, striking out one.

OTC racked up 10 hits on the day. Hoyt and Schmieg each managed multiple hits for OTC. Hoyt led the Bulldogs with three hits in four at bats.

OTC moves to an overall record of 7-12 and a league record of 2-3.  They will participated in the District Tournament in Alexandria from July 14-17.  

OTC will also be hosting the state tournament from July 21-24 and will receive an automatic bid to the tournament.
