A new home decor business in Ottertail is paying homage to a 1980s cult classic movie.

Becky Geyer recently opened Buehler’s Day Off in the barn of Buehler’s Produce in rural Ottertail. The home decor business, which also includes signs, candles, planters, flowers, greenery, clothing, jewelry and purses, opened earlier this spring. The name came from a line Geyer heard frequently growing up as her maiden name is Buehler.

During the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a teacher said “Bueller, Bueller” in a monotone voice when taking attendance in school.

“So my whole life I have heard ‘Buehler, Buehler,’” said Geyer with a laugh.

Wanting to incorporate her maiden name in the name of her business somehow, Geyer thought Buehler’s Day Off would be a fun way to incorporate that past joke with her new business.

Opening the new store was something Geyer had thought about doing for quite some time. She has always enjoyed decorating and is looking forward to sharing some of her style and designs with residents from across the region.

“It’s something I have always wanted to do. I have always wanted to have a home decor store,” said Geyer. “I like decorating and it is always something that I have wanted to do.”

Buehler’s Day Off is located in the Buehler’s Produce building at 532 Main St E in rural Ottertail. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. The store will be open on Sundays when produce from the farm begins to come in from the field. For more information, contact (218) 849-5966.
