Event to kick off 84th annual Henning Festival weekend

Join Otter Tail County Historical Society Director Chris Schuelke for a walking tour of historic downtown Henning on Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m. Admission is $8 per person, gather in front of the Landmark Center.

As small rural towns struggle to survive, Henning has embarked on a path that could be a model for others. Community members have come together to save local historic buildings while embracing the value of arts and culture for economic development.

In recent years both the Trinity Lutheran Church and Lewis House and Medical Office have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.These designations recognize the significance of these places in both the history and future of Henning. The purpose of the walking tour is explore the histories of these buildings and other treasures that remain in the downtown area.

Two Underwood Lions people movers will be available for those who have difficulty walking.
