A driver was injured on June 15 after she reached for her cell phone and lost control of her vehicle. She rolled her vehicle and fortunately received only a minor injury near Highway 4 in rural Pelican Rapids.

The accident took place at 11:42 a.m.

“Distracted driving is dangerous,” said a spokesperson for the county sheriff office, “claiming 3,142 lives across the United States in 2020.”

Sheriff offices, in all of Minnesota’s 87 counties, are part of a national effort to save lives by preventing this dangerous behavior. They adhere to the motto, “Get the facts, get involved, and help us keep America’s roads safe.”

Three injured in

Pelican Rapids

Sheriff deputies, on June 11, reported that three people were injured in a roadway accident on the south side of Pelican Rapids.

The accident involved two vehicles at 7:40 a.m. near the intersection of South Broadway and SW 10th Avenue.

Deputies said the two vehicles collided with one vehicle entering a ditch and the other vehicle stopping on the shoulder of the roadway. Injuries were minor.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene of the accident.
