The Henning City Council has tabbed Susan Needham to be its next city clerk/treasurer. The move is pending the two sides coming together on an agreement on compensation.

In her application to the city, Needham said she has over 20 years of accounting and administrative experience and recently purchased a home in the Henning area to be closer to family members. She has worked at Ag Country Farm Credit since 2013 as a senior farm account specialist she also did the books for her husband’s plumbing business on the side.

City council members also interviewed another candidate on the morning of June 13, but favored Needham due to her accounting background and previous experience.

The city council approved offering Needham the position at a rate of $27 per hour during a 60 day probationary period and approved an additional $1 per hour raise when that period is up.

If Needham declines the offer the city council said it would interview a third candidate who just recently applied for the job, as well as consider a second candidate they interviewed on Monday morning.
