Late run lifts OTC team over Fergus Falls 

The Otter Tail Central team easily dispatched Breckenridge 20-2 on Monday.

OTC got things started in the first inning. Owen Harig drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Bulldogs put up nine runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Ryan Despard, Quenton Beske, Rowan Finseth, and Colton Schjerve, a walk by Bradon Grabe and a triple by Kale Misegades.

Kaleb Hammes led the OTC to victory on the mound as he lasted four innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five. Drew Evavold threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

OTC had 15 hits in the game. Hammes, Ayden Olson, Garrett Kuhn-Rice, and Despard all managed multiple hits for OTC. 

In the second game, OTC snagged a late lead and defeated Breckenridge 8-6 on Monday. The game was tied at 6-6 with OTC batting in the bottom of the fourth inning when an error scored one run for OTC.

Breckenridge scored four runs in the fourth inning, but OTC still managed to pull out the victory. 

Breckenridge fired up the offense in the first inning. An error scored one run for Breckenridge.

OTC put up five runs in the third inning. OTC’s big bats were led by Conner Thompson, Quenton Beske, Rowan Finseth, and Bradon Grabe, all driving in runs in the frame.

Garrett Kuhn-Rice got the win for OTC as he surrendered six runs on five hits over four innings, striking out three. Eric Fick threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Fick recorded the last three outs to earn the save for OTC

Kuhn-Rice, Grabe, Ryan Despard, Ayden Olson, Thompson, and Finseth each collected one hit to lead OTC.

Thursday

OTC nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over Fergus Falls on Thursday. The game was tied at 5-5 with OTC batting in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ayden Olson doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Fergus Falls scored three runs in the second inning, but OTC still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Fergus Falls came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Holden Stenstrom and a double by Cam Wiederich.

The Bulldogs scored five runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by OTC was led by Gavin Pausch, Kale Misegades and Eric Fick, all driving in runs in the frame.

Fick pitched OTC  to victory as he allowed five hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six. Pausch threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Pausch recorded the last three outs to earn the save for OTC.

Pausch went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead OTC in hits.

Wiederich led Fergus Falls with two hits in four at bats. Fergus Falls didn’t commit a single error in the field. Brant Scheuerman had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

In the second game of the night, OTC watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 16-5 loss to Fergus Falls.

The Bulldogs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Fergus Falls, giving up 16 runs.

Fergus Falls got things started in the first inning when Quin Wynn-Sheldon singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Mason Samuelson.

Fergus Falls scored nine runs in the third inning. Holden Stenstrom, Isaiah Holmes, Micaiah Abramson, Micah Johnson, Ethan Swedberg and Stenstrom powered the big inning with RBIs.

Rowan Finseth took the loss for OTC as he went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out two.

Samuelson and Ayden Olson each had multiple hits for OTC to lead the way.
