Bulldogs to face Fergus Falls on Tuesday

Otter Tail Central claimed a 15-4 victory on Monday, despite a big push by Pelican Rapids in the fifth inning. 

The Bulldogs secured the victory thanks to 9 runs in the fifth inning. Drew Evavold, Garrett Nelson, Hunter Haugen, Owen Buehler, Soren Floden and Owen Harig all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

OTC  got things started in the first inning. Nelson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring Kale Misegades from second base.

In the bottom of the first inning, Pelican Rapids tied things up at one. Pelican Rapids scored one run on a first and third situational steal with two outs.

OTC pulled away for good with 2 runs in the third inning

The Bulldogs put up 9 runs in the fifth inning. Evavold, Nelson, Haugen, Buehler, Floden and Harig each had RBIs in the frame.

Gavin Pausch got the win for OTC as he went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out one. Pausch threw well in the win.  He only allowed 1 hit in the first 4 innings, then Pelican put some hits together scoring 3 runs. 

OTC saw picked up 11 hits in the game. Harig, Jayden Harig, Evavold, and Haugen each had multiple hits for OTC. Haugen, Evavold, Harig, and Harig all had two hits to lead OTC.

Tuesday

OTC’s effort to come back from down 6 runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 7-6 to Brandon/Evansville on Tuesday. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the failed comeback on a in the sixth, a walk by Conner Thompson in the seventh, and a double by Soren Floden in the seventh.

Despite the loss, OTC did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Brandon/Evansville had six hits on the way to victory.

In the bottom of the second inning, OTC tied things up at 1-1 when. Drew Evavold drew a walk to score 1 run.

After Brandon/Evansville scored 1 run in the top of the sixth inning, OTC answered with 1 of their own. Brandon/Evansville scored when Tyler Bitzan doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Brandon/Evansville pulled away for good with 4 runs in the fourth inning. 

In the fourth Owen Buehler induced Hunter Koep to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, an error scored 1 run for Brandon/Evansville, and Brady Perleberg singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring 1 run.

OTC scored 4 runs in the seventh inning. OTC’s big bats in the inning were led by a walk by Thompson and a double by Floden.

Buehler took the loss for OTC as he allowed 5 hits and 5 runs over 4 innings, striking out 1.

OTC totaled six hits in the game. Kale Misegades and Floden each had multiple hits for OTC. 

Thursday

Kale Misegades was in the zone on Thursday, tallying 4 hits and leading OTC to a 13-9 win over Breckenridge. Misegades singled in the first, singled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh innings.

Bats blistered as OTC collected 11 hits and Breckenridge tallied 13 in the high-scoring game.

In the first inning, the Bulldogs got their offense started. OTC scored two runs when Soren Floden singled and crossed J. Harig and Garrett Nelson across the plate.

OTC tallied 4 runs in the seventh inning. The Bulldogs big bats in the inning were led by Jayden Harig, Hunter Haugen, and Owen Buehler and a sac fly by Floden.

Breckenridge scored 3 runs in the sixth inning. Breckenridge big bats were led by Cam Nieto and Dallen Ernst, all driving in runs in the frame.

Drew Evavold led the OTC to victory on the hill as he pitched 5 innings, allowing 11 hits and 7 runs while striking out 2. Gavin Pausch threw 2 innings in relief out of the bullpen. Pausch recorded the last six outs to earn the save for OTC.

Misegades led OTC with four hits in four at bats.

The Bulldogs will go into section playoffs with a 9-11 record and will travel to the high seed on Tuesday. The Bulldogs received the sixth seed and will open the sub section tournament against third seeded Fergus Falls.

The top seed went to Perham and they will open the tournament against eighth seeded Barnesville. The winner of that game will take on either fourth seeded Pelican Rapids or fifth seeded Frazee. The other opening round game will feature second seeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and seventh seeded Hawley.
