OTC prepares for Park Region Conference meet at WDC

The Otter Tail Central track team was busy last week as the Bulldogs competed at the Section 6A True Team meet on Tuesday, as well as the Perham Invite on Thursday.
This week the Bulldogs will compete at the Park Region Conference meet in Wadena on Tuesday in their only action of the week.
Tuesday
Ally Hart picked up a pair of second place finishes in the hurdles and Grace VanErp took first place in the triple jump during the Section 6A True Team meet in Pelican Rapids on Tuesday.
Hart finished with a time of 17.50 in the 100-meter hurdles and 50.19 in the 300-meter hurdles to take second place in both events. She also took fifth place in the high jump.
VanErp finished in first place in the triple jump with a jump of 36’10” and was fifth in the high jump.
On the boys side, Isaac Scherfenberg and Brien Poser both took seventh place in the 400-meter and 800-meter runs respectively to lead the way.
As a team, the OTC girls took ninth place with 1116.5 and the boys finished in 10th place with 502.5.
Pelican Rapids won both the boys and girls as the Vikings finished with 966 points for the boys and 1732 for the girls.

Thursday
The OTC boys took third and the girls finished in fourth place at the Perham Invite on Thursday night.
The boys finished with 68 points and trailed just Perham with 184 and Pelican Rapids with 165 points in the standings. Frazee finished in fourth place with 68 points and New York Mills was fifth with 11 points.
On the girls side, Perham won the meet with 175 points, while Frazee took second with 115 points, Pelican Rapids was third with 90 points and OTC was fourth with 79 points. NY Mills rounded out the team scoring with 62 points.
The Bulldogs once again fared well in the field events on Thursday night as Grace VanErp captured first place in the triple jump with a jump of 37’2” and second in the long jump with a jump of 15’4”.
Ally Hart captured a pair of first place finishes including first place in the high jump with a jump of 4’10” and first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.81.
Other top finishes for the girls include Kallyn Grove and Laney Frost who took second and fourth place respectively in the 800-meter run, while Hart also captured third place in the 100-meter hurdles. Nora Froslee finished in fifth place in the 1600-meter run and Kinley Bormann took third place in the triple jump.
On the boys side, Caden Meek captured first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.37 to lead a competitive event. Jonas Hegemesiter took third place in the event with a time of 58.13, Aidan Heggem took fourth place with a time of 1:00.08 and Jaxson Rich took fifth place with a time of 1:00.71.
In the long jump, Max Mekalson captured third place with a jump of 15’7” and Aidan Heggem took fifth place with a jump of 14’10”.
Heggem also took fifth place in the triple jump with a jump of 33’5” and Hegemesiter took fifth place in the pole vault with a jump of 9’6”.
