Henning student made 22 of 25 free throws at contest

Easton Misegades took third place at the Elks National Hoop Shoot finals on Saturday. The national hoop shoot was held at Wintrust Arena, home of the WNBA Champion Chicago Sky and DePaul Blue Demons in Chicago, Ill. 

Each division consisted of 12 finalists from across the country. Misegades made his final 15 shots of the hoop shoot to make the podium. He finished by making 23 of 25 shots overall. 

Misegades, who is the son of Randy and Becky Misegades of rural Henning and is a fifth grade student at Henning School. 

In order to qualify for the national contest, Misegades won the Henning School and regional hoop shoot at Wadena-Deer Creek School. He also won a regional contest in Brainerd, Minn., the state contest in Hutchinson, Minn. and the five state regional contest in Iowa. 

At the five state regional contest, Misegades connected on 24 of 25 free throws, which was the top of all shooters of any age at the contest. The second place finisher connected on 22 of 25 shots.
