Building damaged in fire in eastern OTC

Fire at a residence near Highway 75 in eastern Otter Tail County early Saturday morning, April 16, was confined to an entryway area containing a wood-burning fireplace.

The unit was used to heat the residence. 

Three occupants left the house and called authorities at 1:25 a.m. Firefighters arrived and contained the blaze. No damage estimates were immediately available.

One highway injury

One person was injured April 14 in a traffic accident near the intersection of Highways 52 and 106, north of Deer Creek in eastern Otter Tail County.

A man suffered a minor injury and was taken to Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. The vehicle was towed from the scene of the accident.

Stolen items recovered

Sheriff deputies reported that stolen items from an owner at Fort Thunder Road, southwest of Perham, were recovered on April 15.

Previously taken were four aluminum semi-truck rims and two floor jacks valued at $150. The suspect was located by the Detroit Lakes Police Department and officers recovered the missing items.

Tools stolen, loss very high

Sheriff deputies, on April 19, reported the theft of several Dewalt tools and batteries from a construction site near Highway 5 in south central Otter Tail County.

The items were taken from a job trailer, with the total loss estimated at close to $8,000.

Deputies said the lock was cut from the trailer side door, sometime after April 11.
