Accident occured near Highway 80 in Perham

Two people were seriously injured in a car-train accident northwest of Perham at 4 p.m. on Dec. 21. The location was near the intersection of Highway 80 and Pikewood Lane.

Sheriff deputies said a Ford Explorer, southbound, was crossing the railroad tracks when the vehicle was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive.

Injured was the 39-year-old male driver of the Ford explorer and a passenger. Perham Ambulance transported the victims to the nearby hospital in Perham.

The incident remained under investigation by the sheriff’s office as on Dec. 22.

Icy roads lead to

I-94 accidents

Sheriff deputies, working in conjunction with the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, report-ed two accidents, with injuries, along Interstate 94 in southwestern Otter Tail County on Dec. 17.

One accident at 5:34 p.m. involved a passenger car and semi, both westbound on icy roads. Injured was the driver of the passenger car, 26-year-old Joecelia Dalmeida of Brooklyn Park, Min-nesota. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The other accident, with injuries on Interstate 94, took place at 1:03 a.m. on Dec. 17, near Fergus Falls. No further details were available.

At least one person was injured at 1:50 p.m. on a roadway Dec. 19 near Pine Lake and northeast of Perham. No further details were available.
