Henning now 7-0 overall, 3-0 in PRC

Henning improved to 7-0 overall and remains tied atop the Park Region Conference with New York Mills after securing three more wins last week. The Hornets are 3-0 in the conference and are just one of two undefeated teams in conference.

Last week the Hornets defeated Sebeka by a score of 67-24, Wadena-Deer Creek by a score of 72-48 and Battle Lake by a score of 64-47.

This week the Hornets will travel to Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night, before taking an extended break over Christmas from game action. 

Tuesday

Henning shot 50 percent from the field, including 22-35 from inside the 3-point line, to defeat Sebeka by a score of 67-24 on Tuesday night. The Hornets jumped out to an early 38-12 lead and outscored a young Trojans team by a score of 29-12 down the stretch. 

Mason Hammer led the way offensively with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Tyson Misegades score 11 points and had 5 assists in the game. Carter Dilly scored 9 points, while Kale Misegades scored 9 points to go along with 5 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. 

Calvin Stueve and Tanner Arndt each scored 8 points, while Lane Dilly scored 4 and Riley Bode rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

Thursday

The Hornets shot 53 percent from the field and knocked down 10 3-pointers as they defeated Wadena-Deer Creek by a score of 72-48 on Thursday night. 

“Our defensive effort tonight was solid. We did a decent job of forcing WDC into some contested looks at the basket,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “This was our best shooting night of the season. We had a number of guys knock down perimeter shots. And we showed good balance once again on the offensive end.”

After taking a 36-21 lead at halftime, the tempo picked up a bit in the second half as the Hornets once again outscored the Wolverines in the half.

Eight Hornets reached the scoring column in a balanced attack. Mason Hammer led the way offensively with 20 points, including three 3-pointers and 8 assists, while Tyson Misegades hit five 3-pointers, and went 5-8 from behind the 3-point line, to finish with 19 points.

Calvin Stueve scored 14 points off of just 6-9 shooting, Tanner Arndt scored 8 points, Kale Misegades scored 6 points, Dawson Misegades scored 2 points, Carter Dilly scored 2 points and Carter Kenyon rounded out the scoring with 1 point.

Saturday

Eighth grader Kale Misegades and senior Tanner Arndt combined to score 38 points and went 6-8 from behind the 3-point line to help Henning to defeat a feisty Battle Lake team by a score of 64-47 on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets led by a score of 30-19 and went on to outscore the Battlers 34-28 in the second half for their seventh straight win to open the season.

“We were able to struggle through this game and come away with our third victory of the week. We didn’t bring our best effort today,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “I give Battle Lake a lot of credit.  They played harder than we did for stretches in this game.”

Misegades led the way offensively as he scored 20 points and went 4-5 from behind the 3-point line, while Arndt scored 18 points to go along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds. 

Carter Dilly hit a pair of 3-pointers as he scored 8 points, while Mason Hammer had 6 points and 7 rebounds, Calvin Stueve scored 5 points, Tyson Misegades scored 5 points and Dawson Misegades rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
