Tanner Arndt scored 25 points and Calvin Stueve chipped in with 12 as the Henning Hornets defeated Rothsay 67-52 on Friday night. The Hornets led by a score of 33-22 at halftime after battling foul trouble throughout the game.

“It was nice to pick up a win our first time out,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “We shot poorly from the perimeter while battling foul trouble and an early injury. But, we did enough good things to pick up the victory.”

As a team the Hornets shot 41 percent from the field, but were just 4-18 from behind the 3-point line. The Hornets were able to find some success inside the 3-point line as they were 22-44 on 2-point shots. They also were able to limit the Tigers on the offensive end as the Hornets had 33 rebounds and 16 steals, while turning over the ball just 7 times.

Misegades credited the Hornets’ defense for helping the team come out on top on Friday night.

“I thought we brought good energy on the defensive end of the floor. We just need to improve our ball movement and efficiency on offense,” he said.

In addition to a team high 25 points, Arndt finished with 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Kale Misegades and Lane Dilly each finished with 8 points, while mason Hammer scored 6 points. Carter Dilly scored 5 points and Tyson Misegades rounded out the scoring with 3 points.
