If you are afraid you are going to be bad and want to get your Christmas wish list to Santa before being blackballed by the man in red, make sure to stop by the Henning Landmark Center and Deer Creek Community Center this weekend.

The annual Henning Santa Day will feature a day full of festivities on Saturday, which will culminate with a Santa parade and tree lighting ceremony after dark.

The day will begin with arts and crafts for children, board games and gift drawings at the Trinity Center in Henning from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making their big arrival at 2 p.m. at the Landmark Center to visit with local children and gather their Christmas wish lists. He will be there until 4 p.m.

Beginning at 4 p.m. hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the Landmark Center, as well as a variety of food options as people can gather to watch the second annual Santa parade.

The lighted parade will begin at 5 p.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church. There is no need to pregister for the parade and line up will take place at St. Edwards Catholic Church at 4:30 p.m. For a complete parade route, check out page 3 of this week’s issue, or the City of Henning website and Facebook page.

A tree lighting/caroling will take place following the parade, at approximately 6 p.m. to bring the festive day to a close.

In addition to the festivities on Saturday, Letters to Santa will be collected at the holiday decorated mailbox at the Landmark Center. The stocking stuffer and toy drive drop off will be located by the Christmas tree at the Landmark Center all day.

Deer Creek Santa Day

The annual Santa Day celebration in Deer Creek will be held on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will be held at the community center and feature horse-drawn sleigh rides with Lester Bain through the heart of Deer Creek.

When local children get back to the community center from their sleigh rides they will have a chance to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and some cookies that will be served throughout the Santa Day festivities.

No Santa Day will be complete without a visit from the big guy in red, who will be at the community center gathering Christmas wish lists from local children from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
