Program provides gifts to children in need

Henning HOPE is once again sponsoring the annual Stocking Stuffers Project for families within the Henning School District.  This year the timeline for dropping off wish list donations will be from Black Friday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 6.

Henning HOPE Elves will be shopping for needed items from Dec. 6-11 and  preparing for the distribution to families on Dec. 12. Families will be picking up their items on Dec. 16 at the Trinity Center.

Organizers have asked those who purchase an item to not wrap their donations. People are asked to place the stocking on the item so they know which family will be given a gift.

Families have submitted applications with Christmas wish lists for their children.  Stockings will be placed on trees at Seip Drug, Dollar General and Henning Hardware. Henning HOPE asks individuals to support local businesses by purchasing items locally, if possible, as some of the wish list items can be purchased in Henning. These items may be purchased at other locations around town.

Donations can also be brought to the Landmark Center on Dec. 4. Totes will be available to collect items for both Henning HOPE and for the Henning Police Department Toys Project.

The Sportsman Bar in Clitherall is also sponsoring a tree.  Henning HOPE will also stockings on totes at Good Shepherd, St. Paul’s, St. Edwards, WE Church, and St. John’s in Ottertail.

Those who would prefer to provide a cash donation to help purchase items can drop off their donation at Markuson-Baer Insurance in Henning or mailed to Henning HOPE, PO Box 524, Henning, MN 56551.

Henning HOPE wants to thank everyone who helps to support this project to put smiles on the faces of children at Christmas.
