Henning School students will be going back in time to when rock and roll ruled the land. The Henning School choir will be performing the musical A Wop Bop a Loo Bop, which follows a group of spunky teenagers with big dreams of making it in the music industry.

The Henning fall musical will open on Friday night for the first of three shows this weekend. The musical features a number of rock and roll classics like “Rock Around the Clock.”

Of course things don’t go quite as planned when a local radio station announces that rock and roll has to go. The students take a stand and show that rock and roll must stay in the land.

The musical is based in the 1950’s and 60’s and follows Ruby, who is being played by Emma Severson. She is the daughter of a rock and roll host, played by James Moran, who decides to stop playing rock and roll music.

Other main characters are played by Kyle Tiernery, Alyvia Bunkowski, Joseph Froslee, Mackenzie Suchy, Kaislyn Bunkowski and Matthew Johnson.

The musical will feature a number of classic hits like “Rock Around the Clock,” “Tuttie Fruitti,” “The LocoMotion” and more.

The fall musical will feature three performances this weekend at Henning School. The musical will open on Friday night with a performance at 7 p.m., while a second performance will be held on Saturday night at 7 p.m. A matinee performance will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets to attend are $5 apiece and can be purchased at the door.
