Henning to play Breckenridge on Thursday night

Lyvia Misegades sets the ball at the net to a group of Henning hitters who were waiting to blast the ball past Underwood on Friday night. The Hornets won the match in three games to advance to Thursday’s sub section finals in Fergus Falls. The Hornets will take on the Breckenridge Cowgirls.

The Henning Hornets started off Section 6A tournament play with two victories last week.

On Wednesday night the Hornets defeated Battle Lake 3-0 (25-12, 25-11 and 25-20) and then on Friday night they defeated Underwood 3-0 (25-17, 25-22 and 25-19).  Henning’s next game is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Fergus Falls High School. The game will get underway at 6 p.m. The second seeded Hornets will be facing top seeded Breckenridge.

In their game against Battle Lake, the Hornets controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish. Henning got a little complacent in the third game, but pulled it back together in the end. The Hornets served 95 percent and had 12 aces, they had 33 kills, hitting at .188, 6 blocks and serve received at 85 percent.

Grace Hammer led the team with 11 kills and 3 solo blocks. Ally Hart had 8 kills, 12 digs and led the team in ace serves with 7. Lyvia Misegades led the team in assists with 23 and she also had 5 kills. Faith Fisher led the team in digs with 16. Emma Severson had 5 kills and Becca Frederick added 3. Gretchen Eckhoff added 8 digs on the night.  

Also getting action on the court were Aaliyah Olson, Natalie Eckhoff, Lily Fraki, Ava Eckhoff and Gabby Umland. 

Ally Hart led the Hornets with 15 kills on Friday night against Underwood.

In their game against Underwood, the Hornets played with a lot of energy. The Hornets passed well on serve receive, which helped them control the offense. As a team Henning serve received 93 percent to the target, this helped them to get their 46 kills, which is the most the Hornets have had in any three game match this season. The Hornets had 5 blocks on the night and had some great digs that led into some key attacks.

Ally Hart led the team in kills with 15. She also led the team along with Faith Fisher in digs with 24 apiece. Becca Frederick led the team with 2 solo blocks and also had 7 kills. Emma Severson had 10 kills and Grace Hammer added 8. Lyvia Misegades led the team in assists with 38. Gretchen Eckhoff had a good night serve receiving and also had 14 digs. 

Also playing and having some great touches on balls were Aaliyah Olson, Lily Fraki and Natalie Eckhoff.
