Driver injured near Rush Lake on October 23

The driver of a vehicle was injured near the south side of Rush Lake at 5:07 a.m. on Oct. 23. The accident took place near the intersection of Highway 54 and Boys Shore Road.
Sheriff deputies identified the victim as 19-year-old Presten Newborg of New York Mills.
Newborg lost control of his vehicle and entered the north ditch. He then struck a grove of pine trees.
He was transferred to the Perham hospital by Perham Area EMS and then was transported to Sanford in Fargo via helicopter. The good news was that his injuries were non-life threatening.
Also assisting sheriff deputies were fire and rescue personnel from the town of Ottertail.
