0On a cool October night, the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs outlasted the Frazee Hornets by a score of 20-0. The OTC defense held Frazee to just 120 yards of total offense, while OTC ran for 275 yards on the ground and went for 89 yards through the air.
OTC got the scoring going early in the first quarter when Bricker Bladow took a Tanner Arndt pass 55 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion failed to leave the score at 6-0.
In the second quarter Calvin Stueve scored his first of two touchdowns in the game as he scored on a 15-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good to leave the game at 14-0.
In the third quarter Stueve scored the final touchdown of the game when he rumbled into the end zone from 33-yards out to make the score 20-0 in favor of OTC.
Stueve led the team in rushing as he had 121 yards on just 16 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Mason Hammer also had a solid night on the ground as he carried the ball 13 times for 73 yards, Tyler Christensen finished with 10 carries for 45 yards and Arndt had 2 carries for 29 yards.
Arndt completed just 3-13 passing for 89 yards in a game dominated by the running game. Bladow was the leading receiver with 55 yards and 1 catch, while Stueve caught 1 pass for 26 yards and Owen Buehler caught 1 pass for 8 yards.
The Bulldogs defense held the Hornets to just 6 first downs as Frazee was just 3-12 on third down and turned the ball over 3 times. OTC, on the other hand, picked up 14 first downs and was 4-12 on third down and 2-5 on fourth down.
The win secures at least a share of the Midwest Blue District title as the Bulldogs are 5-0 in the conference and lead Pelican Rapids and Breckenridge who are both 4-1 in the conference. The sixth ranked Bulldogs are 7-0 overall on the season and are averaging 31.1 points per game on offense and give up just 9.7 points per game on defense.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday night when they host Parkers Prairie at Don Seipkes Field in Henning. The Panthers come into the game with a record of 1-6 overall as they are scoring 12.3 points per game on offense and giving up 24.4 points per game on defense.
The Section 6A playoffs will kick off on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the high seed and continue on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. The section finals will be on Friday, Nov. 5 at the FargoDome. The section championship game will get underway at 5:30 p.m.
If OTC hosts home games in the opening two rounds of the section tournament the plan is to host the first round game in Henning and the October 30 game in Battle Lake.
OTC is currently one of two undefeated teams in the section as New York Mills is 6-0. Pine River-Backus is 6-1, while Breckenridge is 4-3, Underwood is 3-4, Menahga is 3-4, Lake Park-Audubon is 2-5 and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley is 0-6.
