OTC to travel to Frazee on Friday night

Lane Dilly brought down a Staples-Motley player on Friday with a big hit as the Bulldogs improved to 6-0 with a 47-12 win on Friday night.

Otter Tail Central exploded for 34 points in the first quarter as they went on to defeat Staples-Motley on Friday night by a score of 47-12. The win is the sixth straight for OTC as they improved to 6-0 on the season.

Tanner Arndt got the scoring going in the first quarter as he scored on a 43-yard touchdown run. The Owen Buehler kick was good to make the score 7-0. On the next series, Arndt found Buehler on a 40-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-0 following Buehler’s point after kick.

On the ensuing drive, Jack Mekalson was on the receiving end of a 62-yard pass from Arndt for OTC’s third touchdown of the quarter. The point after kick by Buehler was good to make the score 21-0. The Bulldogs weren’t done from there as Calvin Stueve scored on a 2-yard run and Bricker Bladow added a fifth touchdown of the quarter on a 10-yard run to make the game 34-0 in favor of OTC. Buehler converted 4-5 point after kicks in the quarter.

Staples-Motley got on the scoreboard on a 3-yard pass and the kick failed to make the score 34-6. The Bulldogs answered right back when Arndt scored his second touchdown of the first half, this time on a 6-yard run to give OTC a 40-6 lead. Buehler connected on the point after attempt to leave the score at 41-6 heading into halftime.

Both teams found the end zone one time in the second half with Stueve scoring on a 7-yard run in the third quarter and Staples-Motley scoring on a 70-yard pass in the fourth quarter to make the score 47-12. The OTC reserves played a good amount in the second half as the Bulldogs get ready to take on Frazee on the road on Friday night. 

As a team the Bulldogs out gained the Cardinals by a 472 to 198 yard margin. The attack was fairly balanced for the Bulldogs with Arndt throwing for 233 yards and the Bulldogs rushing for 239 yards on the ground. The Bulldogs held a 20-8 margin in first downs and converted 7-11 on third downs. 

Stueve led the charge on the ground as he had 6 rushes for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tyler Christensen rushed 12 times for 50 yards, Mason Hammer rushed 4 times for 30 yards and Bricker Bladow rushed 3 times for 6 yards and a touchdown. 

Arndt rushed two times for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while going 13-19 through the air for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns. 

The top receivers included Buehler who caught 3 balls for 80 yards and touchdown, as well as Mekalson who caught 3 balls for 79 yards and a touchdown. Mason Dalluge caught 5 passes for 44 yards, while Drew Johnson caught 1 pass for 21 yards and Stueve caught 1 pass for 8 yards. 

OTC is now 6-0 on the season and will travel to Frazee on Friday night to take on the Hornets. Frazee comes into the game with a five game losing streak after defeating Parkers Prairie 29-16 in their regular season opener. Last week the Hornets fell to Thief River Falls by a score of 36-0.
