A semi and train accident temporarily closed down Highway 108 in Ottertail on Thursday morning. The crash occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m.

According to reports, the tractor trailer was driving southbound on North Lake Street from Elevator Drive in Ottertail and crossed the railroad tracks as an approaching southbound train was coming. The train collided with the trailer of the semi.

The driver of the truck was uninjured, however, the train conductor sustained minor injuries from the impact of the crash. The conductor did not need medical attention. 

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said charges are pending against the semi driver for unsafe railroad crossing.
