Henning area residents are being encouraged to take to the streets on Tuesday for the annual National Night Out festivities at the Henning Festival Grounds. The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. and feature a number of activities like a car show, outdoor movie with free popcorn, frisbee golf, game, giveaways, door prizes and much more.

The event will also give residents the opportunity to participate in a number of demonstrations and an opportunity to meet their local emergency responders.

The doors will officially open at 4 p.m., but the car show, frisbee golf, games and giveaways will all get underway around 5 p.m. Food will also be available beginning at 5 p.m. Among the local activities are demonstrations and tours of the police and sheriff vehicles, Henning fire trucks and a Henning ambulance.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen local communities by encouraging citizens to engage in stronger relationships with each other and their community. The hope is to give people an opportunity to get to know their neighbors better.

This year’s event will be held on Aug. 3 from 4-7 p.m. at the Henning Festival Grounds and event center. This is the second time Henning has hosted a National Night Out event after last year’s festivities were canceled due to COVID-19.
