With Erik Osberg looking on, Otter Tail County Commissioner Lee Rogness holds up a measuring stick during Saturday’s Governor’s Fishing opening ceremony. Rogness joked that he hoped the opener would “measure up” for those in attendance. While Governor Tim Walz was in Ottertail briefly Friday, and went fishing Saturday morning, he did not attend the opening ceremony or any of the events held in honor of the Governor’s Fishing Opener on Saturday. Instead, he reportedly returned to St. Paul, Minn. to continue the legislative session. The news was broke to the crowd that gathered for the opening ceremony by Minnesota DNR commissioner Sarah Strommen. Walz reportedly caught a perch during his early morning fishing trip on Otter Tail Lake.
