A new leader will be serving the Henning United Methodist Church.

Lay person Valerie Shaw is the new leader at the United Methodist Church in Henning. 

Lay Speaker Valerie Shaw will be the new leader at the church. Shaw was raised on a farm near Frazee before marrying her husband Glenn Shaw. They raised four sons in Richville and after working in the home health field, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education and majored in special education. She taught in the Campbell-Tintah School District for a year and then accepted a position at the Lakeland Christian School in Henning.

In 2007 the family moved to a hobby farm near Henning. She eventually returned to employment in the home health care and hospice field.

After her husband died in 2013, Shaw sold the family farm and moved to Perham.

Having done pulpit study for a number of area churches, Shaw will now do full-time ministry at the Henning United Methodist Church.

The Henning United Methodist Church is located at 503 Holden Ave. and services are held each Sunday at 9 a.m.
