Bulldogs improve to 2-9 overall, 1-6 in PRC

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs bested Frazee in a high-scoring affair, 18-11.

Frazee took an early lead in the first inning.

The Bulldogs took the lead for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored two runs for OTC, Jayden Harig singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Hunter Haugen doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, and Chris Rinicker doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. 

“It was really great to see our bats come alive and even more important we were hitting with runners in scoring position,” said head coach Ryan Hendrickson. “We were able to collect 12 RBI by hitting with runners on base, this has been a big focus of ours as of late.”

Tyson Misegades was the winning pitcher for Ottertail Central Bulldogs. The lefthander went three innings, allowing nine runs on five hits and striking out two. Owen Buehler and Cian Buehler entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Wiley Bachmann took the loss for Frazee. The bulldog lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 hits and 14 runs while striking out three.

The Bulldogs tallied 15 hits. Joey Kupfer, Harig, Rinicker, Lane Dilly, and Haugen all managed multiple hits for Ottertail Central Bulldogs. Kupfer led OTC with four hits in five at bats which puts him in the OTC Record book tieing with 20 players for second most hits in a single game, and Harig had 3 hits. 

“We looked really good at the plate tonight, having 8 guys earn RBI’s and 4 guys had 2 RBI’s a piece, thats clutch,” said Hendrickson.

Frazee had six hits in the game. Bachmann and Broden Fleisher all had multiple hits for Frazee. Brock Barlund led Frazee with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.

Tuesday

Otter Tail Central Bulldogs captured the lead in the second inning on Tuesday night against Pillager when Lane Dilly doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

After Pillager scored one run in the top of the sixth, the Bulldogs answered with one of their own. Pillager scored when Conner Hanson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. OTC  then answered when Hunter Haugen singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Pillager took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Hanson doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Eli Miller grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run for Pillager.

The Bulldogs notched four runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a groundout by Tyson Misegades, an error on a ball put in play by Owen Buehler, and a double by Dilly.

Chris Rinicker took the loss for OTC. He went four innings, allowing nine runs on six hits and striking out three.

Joey Kupfer went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits.

Pillager racked up 11 hits. Blake Clark, Hanson, and Tytan Skeesick each had multiple hits for Pillager.

Friday

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-1 loss to Sebeka on Friday. Sebeka took the lead on a single in the first inning.

Sebeka opened up scoring in the first inning, when Torrey Carlson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Mason Heimo led the Sebeka to victory on the mound. The hurler allowed seven hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Isaac Kyllonen threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Kyllonen recorded the last out to earn the save for Sebeka.

Kayne Cameron took the loss for OTC on the mound. The righty surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one. 

“This was our best start yet,” said head coach Ryan Hendrickson. “Kayne has been a solid leader all year, he just showed his best stuff tonight for sure.” 

Lane Dilly went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits.

Sebeka totaled six hits in the game. Spencer Lake and Carlson all collected multiple hits for Sebeka.

The loss drops OTC to 2-9 on the season and 1-6 in the Park Region Conference. They will return to action on Tuesday night when they host Menahga in Henning and again on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Pillager.
