Landmark annual meeting set for June 11

You are invited to attend the Henning Landmark annual meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 11 at 5 p.m., all are welcomed. Please help us celebrate our 16th year providing meeting space, activities, and events for our community. We will vote on officers, discuss our current event schedule and ask for your input as we move forward.
Author and Film Director Beth Howard will visit the Henning area to give us first look at her new documentary film “PIEOWA, A Piece of America.” Author of several books using pie for healing and community building, this film celebrates the power of pie to bring us together in a time of division. A free sneak preview of this 75-minute documentary will be shown at the Cornerstone Church in Henning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13 followed by brief Q&A. On Saturday, June 14, Beth will be available at the historic Wadena Train Depot from 10-11:30 a.m. for Book Signings and Q&A.
The World Premier free screening of “PIEOWA, A Taste of America” will be at the Cozy Theater in Wadena beginning at 1pm, followed by Q&A session. Space is limited.
“This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.”
The Henning All-School Reunion is schedule for Saturday, June 21, with most activities based at the Fairgrounds. Please call reunion committee to register. The Henning Landmark Center will be open to the public for coffee and refreshments and serve as location of Class of 1952 reunion. A parade of a variety of classes will take off around 4:30 p.m. We will be collecting Henning related stories and local history as we continue to work on a Henning History Book. Please let us know if you have stories of photographs to share. A scanner is available so you do not have to give up your original images.
Viking Library System is providing a free musical event on Wednesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. in the Landmark Patio area. Chicago musicians Ann Torralba and Suzi Shelton will perform “Birds of a Feather” during a family friendly 1-hour performance. The VLS Bookmobile visits Henning every other Tuesday from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in front of Landmark Station, with next visits June 3 and 17.
Mark your calendars for a Historic Henning Walking Tour by Chris Schuelke on Thursday, July 10 beginning in front of Landmark at 7 p.m. A $10 registration fee will go to the Otter Tail County Historical Society to help with research expenses. Two people movers will be available for those wishing to ride the tour. Please call the Landmark Center at 548-5760 for more details.
Please remember Landmark Center is available for you to use for your public or private gatherings, meetings, receptions, reunions, workshops and overnight stays. Our second floor retreat center has five bedrooms and two baths with space for 10 overnight guests. We offer free community Wi-Fi and a Smart Room for virtual meetings.
