Post #3289 of New York Mills, Minnesota and the Minnesota Army National Guard of Moorhead, Minn. Bob was laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Bob was welcomed into this world on September 7, 1940, at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, by Walter and Margaret (Rabenberg) Bolland. Growing up on the family farm in Leaf Lake Township, Bob started his school years at St. John’s Parochial School until 8th grade. From there, he continued his education and graduated from Henning High School in 1958. Following graduation, he continued to farm with his father until he enlisted in the US Army in 1963.

While in the Army, Bob was an aircraft mechanic specializing in helicopter repairs; his favorite helicopter was the Huey. In 1965, Bob was honorably discharged after spending one year in Korea. Upon returning home from the Army, Bob took over the family farm and continued to farm with his father.

Bob met his sweetheart and lifelong partner, Marilyn (Richards) in January of 1981. They were united in marriage on June 26, 1982, at St. James Catholic Church. Together, they made their home on the family farm where they were blessed with three sons, Brian, Mark, and Andy, and countless farm dogs Bob adored.

Bob always enjoyed family trips in the summer to various places around the upper Midwest. In his spare time, he enjoyed ice fishing, bowling, and gardening. During his later years, Bob enjoyed cruises and casino trips with his wife; they were good excuses to wear one of his Hawaiian shirts. Bob also loved his routine and was well known for starting his day at the local coffee shop, where he gathered with friends and gossiped about local happenings.

When Bob and Marilyn were blessed with grandkids, they became the joy of Bob’s life. Bob loved taking Easton and Addyson on 4-wheeler rides and giving them jellybeans before they left for home. Bob’s memory will live on through the stories his family and friends will continue to tell. Bob will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marilyn of Henning; sons, Brian (Jenny) of Fargo, N.D.; Mark (Dani) of Henning, and Andy (Katie) of West Fargo, N.D.; two grandchildren, Easton and Addyson (parents Mark and Dani). Brother, Gene of Lynwood, Wash.; mother-in-law Dorothy; sisters-in-law Paulette, Pat, and Bonnie (Bill), brother-in-law Paul (Susan), and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walt and Margaret, father-in-law Paul R. Richards, brother-in-law Ray Hoebelheinrich, and sister-in-law Jeannette Bolland.
