David Charles was born on September 20, 1953, in Parkers Prairie, to Clifford and Ruth (Lindrud) Shaw. He was baptized in Elmo Lutheran Church and later confirmed in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Dave attended the Cozy Corner Country School 1449 District until the sixth grade. He graduated from Henning High School as part of the class of 1971.

Dave met Cindy Loser in high school through a mutual friend and became high school sweethearts. On October 13, 1972, the couple were united in marriage at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning. They made their home in Inman Township and were blessed with three children.

Dave worked for Orvedahl Construction, Benson Livestock and then finally Proag for 23 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church serving in various positions as well as teaching Sunday school.

Dave loved the outdoors, hunting all things that move, his garden, just being outdoors and fishing. After his cancer diagnosis he found peace and purpose gathering diamond willow and creating beautiful pieces, especially his crosses, and giving them away. Dave was an avid snowmobiler until he was no longer able to ride. He started the local club, Henning Snow Cruisers, and established the Travis Trail in honor and memory of his nephew Travis Loser. Dave also loved to share his thoughts and memories through writing. For almost every life event, we heard a speech or poem. Those writings will be cherished forever.

Deeply loved, Dave’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 51 years Cindy; his children: Chad (Teira) Shaw, Sherry (Kevin) Wendt, and Jake (Beth) Shaw; his grandchildren: Taylor (Austin) Rudquist, Andrew (Allison) Wendt, Avery (Aanika Anderson) Wendt, Tanner (Jacey Froemming) Shaw, Ryder Shaw, Addie Shaw, Brodie Shaw, and Case Shaw; his great-granddaughter River Rudquist; his siblings: Sharon Salvog, Robert (Judy) Shaw, Mavis (Dave) Angell, Kathy (Bob) Bregenzer, Rick (Deb) Shaw, Pat (Ron) Lence, Peg (Archie) Pickerign, and Barry (Laurie) Shaw; his sister-in-law JoAnn Shaw; his brothers-in-law Gary (Roxanne) Loser and Duane Loser; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, sister Deanna, brother Jim, his in-laws Ken and Addy Loser, nephews Travis Loser and Mark Shaw, brother-in-law Ralph Salvog and many special relatives.
