Bruce Rolland Johnson was born September 7, 1936 to Clarence and Nettie (Henrikson) Johnson in Fergus Falls. Growing up he attended school in Henning, and was a member of the graduating class of 1954 from Henning High School. Following his high school graduation, he furthered his education for a short period of time in St. Cloud, Minn.
On July 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Yvonne Koste in New York Mills. The couple made their home in Wadena, and were blessed with four children: Steve, Sandy, Stan and Sue.
In 1964 Buck, Vonnie and family moved to Fairmont where they made their loving home. He was employed at Park Motors where he worked as the parts manager for over 40 years. Buck was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served on the church board for many years. He also was a member of the Ford Parts Association, a group that would get together to discuss everything Ford and take annual fishing trips together. He had a strong bond with his five brothers, they would often travel together visiting various vineyards, breweries, and attend baseball games. Family was most important to Buck. He and Vonnie never missed an event that their children were involved in and always looked forward to camping trips to various Minnesota State Parks as a family. Buck’s love for Vonnie was evident in all he did, and he could always be found with a smile and helping hand.
