Bulldogs end season with a record of 7-4 overall

Otter Tail Central had its season come to an end on Friday night as the third seeded Bulldogs fell to fifth seeded Breckenridge by a score of 34-6. 

Breckenridge, which was led by Cam Nieto, scored for the first time at the 7:06 ark of the first quarter. Nieto scored his second touchdown of the game in the second quarter when he broke loose for a 58-yard touchdown run. The Cowboys converted the two-point conversion to take a 14-0 lead into halftime. 

At the 5:32 mark of the third quarter Bailey Evans intercepted a Jack Mekalson pass and returned it for a touchdown to give the Cowboys a 21-0 lead. 

OTC cut the lead to 21-6 when Mekalson found Mason Dalluge on a long touchdown pass in the end zone for the Bulldogs’ first score of the game. 

Unfortunately, the Cowboys answered with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come away with a 34-6 win.

Nieto rushed 14 times for a game-high 178 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Cowboys.

Mekalson completed 6 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown to lead the way for OTC. Dalluge caught 3 of those passes for 70 yards, while Owen Buehler caught 3 passes for 55 yards.

OTC was led by Mason Hammer on the ground as he rushed 11 times for 35 yards. OTC finished with 93 yards rushing and 125 yards passing in the loss. OTC finished the season with a record of 7-4 overall. 

With the win the Cowboys advanced to the state football tournament where they will take on Minneota in the opening round of state on Friday night at Alexandria High School.
